"You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!'" ~ Dave Barry

Text Box: Halloween can be a fun time for both people and pets.  By taking a few precautionary measures, you will help ensure a safe celebration.
Two of the most common problems that occur with the holiday, are poisoned pets and frightened pets.  Since there is so much activity, our pets tend to get nervous, and may run off.  Because of this, there is usually a substantial increase in pets that are hit by cars.  Other pets may become territorial, which may pose a bite risk; any pet is capable of biting when they are scared or confused, even if it is typically a sweet, well behaved pet.  The best thing to do is to confine your pet for the night in either a crate or bedroom.
Another problem that our pets encounter during the Halloween fun is candy.  The candy alone can cause severe stomach upset, but the candy wrappers, if eaten by your pet can pose a more serious problems.  It is also important to keep chocolate away from your pets since it toxic to their system.
If Fido is going to be wearing a costume, be sure that it is comfortable, doesn’t obstruct his vision, and is loose around the chest and neck area.
